Why must we live in a box

I am so tired of all the labels we put on ourselves. Why do people think it is cool to be called baby mamma or baby daddy? I thought I had a first name. I refuse to accept this title. Yes I have two kids and yes we are not together nor were we married so why now you demeanor me and yourself by calling me out of my name. You might was well call our children little bastards. You are a FATHER not a baby daddy. That word father should give you a sense of joy and respect within yourself. I was your woman even if we are no longer together for whatever reason I am now a MOTHER of your children that have your last name, that have half of your DNA. They are our future. We were given the opportunity to correct our mistakes with our own lives by giving our children everything we lacked. By continuing to accept this ghetto ass label put upon us we are going back to a era where Jim Crow laws were accepted and to a time where the plantation owner called a Black Man BOY.
